So funktioniert Swiss Tax Check

1

Schätzung berechnen

Enter your annual income, canton of residence and select any applicable deductions. Our algorithm calculates your estimated refund range in real time — it takes under 60 seconds.

2

Datenvereinbarung akzeptieren

We ask for your consent to access your financial data via your bank. We only request read-only access — we can never initiate payments or move funds on your behalf.

3

Bank verbinden

Select your Swiss bank from the list. You're redirected to your bank's secure authentication page. After login, we receive a read-only view of your tax-relevant transactions.

4

Rückerstattung erhalten

Our tax specialists review your data and file the optimised declaration. Once the tax authority approves your refund, it's transferred directly to your bank account. You pay a small success fee only after you receive your money.

🛡  Swiss Tax Check operates under Swiss DSG data protection law. Your data is hosted exclusively on Swiss servers and is never shared with third parties without your explicit consent.
Support

Häufig gestellte Fragen

Is this service really free upfront?
Yes — completely free until you receive your refund. We charge a success fee of 4% only after the Swiss tax authority has confirmed and transferred your refund. If you get nothing, you pay nothing.
Can you access my money or make payments?
No. We only request read-only access to your account statements. This is a standard Open Banking connection governed by Swiss financial regulation. We cannot initiate transfers, view passwords, or modify any account settings.
How accurate is the refund estimate?
The calculator gives an indicative range based on your income and selected deductions. After connecting your bank, our system performs a detailed analysis of your actual transaction history, which produces a significantly more accurate figure — typically within ±5% of the final tax authority ruling.
Which cantons do you support?
We currently support all 26 Swiss cantons. Each canton has slightly different tax rates and deduction rules, and our system automatically applies the correct parameters for your place of residence.
How long does the refund process take?
After your bank connection is confirmed and your data reviewed (typically 48–72 hours), we file your optimised declaration. The Swiss tax authority usually processes refunds within 4–12 weeks depending on your canton.
Is my data stored securely?
Your data is encrypted with 256-bit TLS in transit and AES-256 at rest. All servers are located in Switzerland and are compliant with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nDSG). We do not sell or share your data.
What if I already filed my tax return this year?
You may still be eligible. We can file an amended or supplementary declaration for the current year, or review up to 3 prior tax years for missed deductions — subject to cantonal rules on re-filing deadlines.

About Swiss Tax Check

Swiss Tax Check was founded in 2022 by a team of former tax professionals and fintech engineers who were frustrated by the same problem: most Swiss residents unknowingly overpay taxes every year — and never find out.

"We built the tool we wished existed."
— Lukas Frei, Co-Founder & CEO

The Swiss tax system is notoriously complex. With 26 cantonal systems, dozens of eligible deductions, and forms that change every year, even financially literate people leave money on the table. The average overpayment is 1,840 CHF per year.

Our platform combines automated data analysis with certified tax specialist review to identify every eligible deduction. We file your declaration, handle all communication with tax authorities, and only charge you after you receive your refund.
